Hi everyone, Hope you all had a nice weekend and good start to your week. I finished my tea party painting. This painting was done for my sweet niece Morgan which I will personalize with her name. This generic one can be tailored to add different children's names and words to the banner. e.g Happy Birthday, You're Invited, Let's Celebrate. New Painting Sketch Idea "Tea Party"

Hello Everyone, Well its been some time since my last post. Sorry for the delay, but I was away and then Christmas was here and well, you all know how that is...lol. Firstly, I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and the very best for 2012. I finally was back in my studio working on a new painting idea for my little niece Morgan who was born two months ago. I painted a painting for my little Niece Margaux last year so now its time to paint one for Morgan. This painting is the same thing theme with the little white kitty and other furry friends, but insteas of a little ballet part it's a tea party.

Here is my rough sketch the painting I will be starting. I will paint on gallery wrapped 40 x 50 cm canvas. I am looking forward to working on this one. It's a also a nice break in between my intense Cinque Terre paintings.

I a very proud to announce that I am again a new auntie to a beautiful baby girl name Morgan.
Baby "Bee" was born November 13, 2011 at 12:32 pm. She weighed in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and measured 19 ½ inches long. She is abosultely beautiful. She has the cutest little nose and a beautifully shaped face and lips, long fingers and she made the same little sighs as her big sister did. A real little princess. I cant believe how much in love I am with her also! I am very blessed to have two beautiful nieces.

My heart is so broken as I see these terrible pictures of my beloved Cinque Terre from the awful flooding that happened this week. All the villages were terribly flooded with mud, water and debris. My prayers go out to the people in Cinque Terre and surrounding Liguria area. I can't believe this is my beloved Vernazza's piazza by the Cathedral. Just shocking!

I am so upset and grief stricken...I cried my heart out when I saw these pictures....I cant beileve the terrible devastation to this magical, wonderful World Heritage site and coastline:

Hi Everyone, Been working quite a bit on my Vernazza, Cinque Terre painting. Blocked in all the colour of the buildings and did some modeling work on the lower part of the cathedral. Will block in colour for the boats today and another coat to the buildings to refresh them up more. I am about at the half way mark of the painting. I am slowly seeing it come alive. Hi everyone, TGIF!! Where did this week go? Time just flys by. Well here is my last wip pic before the finale! Wrapping it up... Did lots of work yesterday. Finished the boats, the water, added lights and darks to the buildings. I just need to do a few things here and there and finish my outlining. I am hoping to finish today or by tomorrow. Completed more work on the buildings - outlined all the windows, more stone work, etc. Might work more on the painting later today - the weahter is not so nice here. Hi everyone, Another busy day...Started defining some area of the painting. Trees on hilltop, stone wall - forefront, also adding more colours to the boats. and some lights to the windows. Its coming along smoothly. I am really enjoying this painting. My recent trip to Italy and Cinque Terre was well worth my visit. I am full of inspiration. Hi Everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend. I had my parents and my aunt from Montreal for a visit. We had a lovely bbq and a great time. The weather here was fabulous on Saturday. Still feeling like summer - so that's great.

Yesterday I worked on my painting and blocked another coat of colour all over. Added colour and some white to the boats and touched up the cement walls in front. Will now begin adding definition to the buildings, etc. I am now at the fun part of the painting. Have a great day everyone. Back to the studio - hoping to put in a few more hours this afternoon.

WIP of my latest painting - Riomaggiore Cinque Terre

Hi Everyone, hope you are all having a nice week. I thought I would do a work in progress of my latesting painting to share with you all. I began work yesterday on my new painting of Riomaggiore in Cinque Terre.

First My Sketch which you already saw. Then I prepared my drawing on canvas. I am using a big one for this project: 60 x 90. The most difficult part I find of the process to draw your sketch idea onto the canvas. Always a messy job - my hands were black after from the charcoal.

The I started off by blocking in the colour for all the windows. I had to use some paint (sienna to just outline a few of the buildings, and rock wall section) for some ajustments which I need to stand out. As I had some green paint left over and the sienna, I decided to add some yellow orchre, paynes grey, and some white to do some of the stone work, etc.

Then added some blue too and did the sky and added that to the paint mixture for the stones, etc. Then I started with the water using an "out of the tube" tourquise and then made the outine for the boats. I will now start adding colour to the buildings. So far so good, the painting is progressing well. I am quite excited about this new project. Stay tuned. Have a great day

Hi everyone, Hope you all are having a nice week. With summer winding down I am back in my studio working away. I am working on my new Cinque Terre series. I was there end of May 2011 and had a trip of a life time. I was so in love with this gorgeous place I said I must caputure all its beauty in some new paintings.

First up: Riomaggiore (the last villge of Cinque Terre - counting from Monterosso being the 1st one). Here is my latest sketch of the beautiful Village stacked high above the seaside with all its glory and colour. I will be doing this painting on a large canvas 60 x 51.

Hi Everyone, Well after a long summer break, I am finally back in my studio working. I hope you all had a wonderful hot summer. It has been the best summer (weather wise) since I moved back here 3 years ago from beautiful Copenhagen (which I really miss actually).

Back from my European Vacation & Upcoming Art Show

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all doing well and having nice summer weather. I am back from my trip to Europe: we visited Basel, Swizterland and celebrate Onkel Kurt's 85 birthday. Then we drove visited the breathtaking Cote D'azur area. Then we were off to Italy: Magical Portofino and Cinque Terre are. It was my firs time visiting the Cinque Terre area and it was truly marvelous! I took over 1800 photos and I am full of inspiration & look forward to starting my new painting series of Cinque Terre, etc.

Now I am busy preparing for my art exhibit at the Shenkman Arts Centre tomorrow June 3rd and Saturday June 4th. Its the 2nd annual Orleans Festival and I am proud to announce that I was selected as one of the visual artists to exhibit my work during this time and I will be exhibiting my art both days in the upper level of the Shenkman Centre.

There are also many activities happening at the festival with many activities from exhibits, live shows, free food offered by various local vendors, etc.

If you are free and want to spend a fun filled day at the Orleans Festival either on Friday or Saturday, please fee free to come on by. Andreas will also be attending the festival. The "Taste of Orleans" free food sampling by local restaurants, vendors will be held on Saturday June 4 12-2pm.

Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. My family was down for a visit and we had a lovely time and beautiful weather. I was happy to see my little Boo. Sorry I have been absent on my studio blog but I have been preparing for my upcoming show in Gatineau - May 14/15, 2011.

I have also been busy planning our trip to Europe and I will be visiting my beloved Italy again. I can harly wait. We will be flying to Switzerland and visiting some family then we will drive to France (Cote D'Azur) spend a few days there and then its off to Itlay - The Liguria Coast. We will be staying and visiting the beautiful Cinque Terre. I can't wait to see the sites and colours, taste the food and wine and be totally inspired. My favourite place in the world.

I thought I would share with you these lovely little pictures of my little Boo in my studio sitting at my easel - pretending to paint. She is not 2 yet, but soon she will come visit her auntie Lisa and paint for real. Have a great weekend Everyone!

Hi Everyone, I am pleased to announce that I was on Ottawa A Morning Show today March 29th with my Muskoka Chair for Charity. It was such a great time I did not want to leave the set. Lianne Lang, one of the the hosts, was just lovely and it was really interesting to see the studio and how it all works. Jill Alexander another popular local artist was also on the show with with her beautiful Chair. Both chairs will be displayed at the Ottawa Cottage Show from April 8-10 2011 at Lansdowne Park. Received some good news today that I made the jury cut and was selected to exhibit my work at the upcoming Orleans Festival at the Shenkman Arts Centre this June 3 and 4, 2011. 30 artists were selected to show their work at the Shenkman Centre (upper lobby level) from 10am - 5pm during the two day festival. Hello Everyone, I am very pleased to annouce that I finished my Muskoka Chair. "Pond Jewels". It was a big job and I am very pleased with the results. The chair will be heading to the Cottage Show and be auctioned and all money received will be donated to the Cottage Dreams Cancer Recovery Initiative. I have donated 100% of my time and materials. Hi Everyone, Well I finally finished the chair, and I am so pleased with the results. It was a huge job, often back breaking. So here are some pictures of my journey. From my sketch Idea to the assembled chair. It was much easier to paint the chair unassembled.

Hi Everyone, I hope you have been all keeping warm this winter. We have been having very cold weather in Ottawa recently. I am very happy to announce that I received notification last week that my painting "A Night at Fenice" was accepted by the Jury committee for the upcoming February 20th show at the Shenkman Gallery. This exhibition "A Night at the Theatre" will be held from February 17 to March 22, 2011.

Hi Everyone, Voila..my first painting fresh off the easel for 2011. This is a painting of the beautiful famous La Fenice Teatro in Venice. I just love this Theatre. The building was burnt down on January 1996 and was rebuilt to its original stature. The new Fenice hosted its inaugural performance on December 14, 2003. Thank goodness..its a beautiful building with lots of history. I love it! I will be entering my painting into an upcoming competition where the theme is "A Night at the Theatre". Wish me Luck!

Hi Everyone, Happy Little Christmas to you all and I hope you are all sliding well into the new year. I have been quite busy with a few projects. I finished my first rough sketch for 2011 for my first painting. I am going to enter the painting when finished in an upcoming juried competition on January 22, 2011 for an upcoming art show at the Shenkman Arts Centre.

The theme is a "Night at the Theatre". As I adore Venice, I decided to do the beautiful and famous La Fenice Teatro. So here is my very rough sketch for my next painting:

Hi Everyone, TGIF! Besides travelling to Germany and Mexico I have also been quite busy working with the local co-op gallery, I belong too here in Ottawa, on their recent move. We have moved to a new location and the new space is wonderful. We also had a grand opening and vernissage on December 5th and it was a huge success. The exhibition runs until February 21, 2011.

Busy Travelling Times

Hi Everyone, just a quick note to say sorry that I have not been around blogging so much. I had an unexpected to trip to Frankfurt and Berlin for 2 weeks and it was fantastic. My husband had an unexpected business trip for a month and I decided to join him for a few week. It was so great to be back in Europe. I just loved visiting Germany again and all the Christmas Markets were up and it was truly magical. I have come back with lots of inspiration and I look foward to painting soon again.

Then we were off to Cancun, Mexico for our vacation. This trip we decided to do a family vacation with my parents, sister, the Boo and her husband. It was a really great time. We stayed at the Cancun Palace and it was very nice. Excellent friendly staff.

Ottawa Art Expo 2010 - A Success!

Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and halloween. I had a wonderful, weekend and successful art show at the 2010 Ottawa Art Expo this year. There was a great show of people and the marketing, venue and booths were extremely well organized by the committee. The lighting for each booth was also fantastic. This was my most successful and favourite show. I also met many new talented artists and made some new friends.

The very talented Gordon Harrison was also exhibiting and on the same alley as me. He visited my booth to say hi and was very impressed with my work. Hi Everyone, hope you all have been having a busy, productive week. I have been quite busy myself preparing for my upcoming show this weekend at the Ottawa Art Expo.

I also just finished a painting for the show. "The Little Trattoria", 30 x 40 cm in acrylics. This is my 2nd version of my trattoria painting that was given to my husband for our 10th wedding anniversary for our love of travel, Italy & their trattorias. West Carleton Art Show

Hi Everyone, This Thanksgiving weekend I was exhibiting at the West Carleton Art Show in the quaint little town of Carp, Ontario where the lovely Carp Farmer's market is held every Saturday from 8 am till 1 pm.. It was a very nice exhibition and I met a few nice artists. The market brought in lots of peopl and I some paintings and many art cards. Now I am busy organizing for my next show - The Ottawa Art Expo at the end of the month.

AOE Selections Show 2010

Hi Everyone, had a wonderful time last night at the AOE Juried "Selections 2010" Art Show at the Shenkman Arts Centre. I mentioned in one of my past posts that my Orchid Oasis painting made the cut and was selected for the show. Last night was the Vernissage at the beautiful Shenkman Centre in Orleans, Ottawa. Here are a few pics from the event. The exhibit is showing in the Trinity Art Gallery at the Shenkman Arts Centre, open daily 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., from September 30th to October 26th.

Carp/Koi Sketch

Hi Everyone, Further to my previous post, busy working on some new painting ideas. This sketch is a little scene of two carp fish in a pond. I will do this painting on a 30 x 40 cm canvas and enter the piece in my upcoming Carp, Ontario Juried Theme "Carp-the-Fish" display. A local Celebrity will judge the display and paintings. All pieces will be for sale. It is not compulsory but I thought it was a great idea by the organizing committee.

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. The weather was gorgeous here in Eastern Ontario - Ottawa. Summer is back with temperatures of 30+. Swam, worked outside and made bbq's all weekend long. Have to enjoy the last bit of summer.

In the meantime, with the influence of summer, I did a few rough sketches for some new small painting ideas I have for my upcoming shows in Ottawa. I bought these wonderful little frames in birch wood and some 8 x 10 canvases and thought I would so a slew of small beach/marine related paintings. Pefect little gift ideas for decoration your bathroom, etc. Here are the first 3 ideas I have. I am hoping to work on 3 more ideas and hoping to finish these on canvas by the end of the week.

I am particularly fascinated with orchids and I wanted to capture their intriguing shape in a bold composition with an oasis of twilight colours. Hi Everyone, It was has been some time since I last blogged or have done too much in my studio. After my big mid July show in the extreme heat wave in Montreal I decided to take a few weeks off. It felt great and I am totally regenerated and have lots of new ideas and inspiration for some new paintings.

Last weekend on Sunday, August, 8th my painting "Les Couleurs de Provence" was in an exhibition at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Ottawa. It was a beautiful Vernissage. The exhibition "An Artist's Point of View" will run until September 28, 2010. Here are a few pics of the event.

FIMA Exhibit - Survived the Heat Wave

Hi everyone, I am back in Ottawa and happy to be home. I spent the last 5 days in Montreal exhibiting at the Festival International des Arts de Montreal (FIMA) during an extreme heat wave and torrential rains. Despite the terrible weather and few people, I still had a nice time and I received wonderful feedback and got to meet all sorts of wonderful artists from, Canada, France and Martinique.

The festival was 11 days and held along Ste. Catherine Street east in the Village. I think I would have been better to exhibit the first week. I heard from artists that particpated that week, that there were over 900 people an hour and lots of sales. Oh well given the extreme heat, I managed to cover my costs and somewhat. Sold many greeting cards and a few paintings. It's a good job I had my greeting cards with me or I would have not sold as much. If I decide to exhibit next year, I will definitely go the first week of the festival. A few pics of the event which was very nice. Always a pleasure to go to my beautiful hometown in Montreal.

So much rain fell on Friday, it was terrible and water was leaking in. Here is Andreas taping up the holes. He also taped holes for all the other artists. We all called him the Fima handy man! A great guy!

Table for Two Paris Bistro #2

Hi Everyone, I just finished my 2nd version of my "Table for Two" Paris Bistro painting. The first one sold at my last show. I painted another so I can add to my series for the upcoming FIMA Mtl Show. It is a little different from the first version. The curtains, the lights, and the canopy has more tones. Overall, I am happy to be finished the painting. You can never truly reproduce the exact painting. Although almost the same the same there are differences which makes each piece unique.

FIMA (Festival International des Arts a Montreal)

Hi Everyone, I mentioned a few weeks ago that I had been accepted to exhibit and sell my work at the FIMA art show. The festival will be from 1 – 11 July, 2010 and my time slot to exhibit my work will be from the 8th–11th July. The hours will be every day from 1:00–10:00 pm. On Sunday the show finishes at 7:00 pm. My booth number is C09 and I will be located in “The Gallery Space” (inside) located on Ste. Catherine Street between Amherst and Wolfe. The Gallery space is located basically on the corner of Ste. Catherine and Amherst across from the piazzetta restaurant.

The website has now been updated and the program is no on-line along with a list of the all artists exhibiting, their booth and location numbers. I am exhibiting under the name Lariviere Lorenz Lisa this time. *The link to the Site Plan is also on this page.

FIMA is the greatest open air art gallery in eastern Canada. The BoulevArt expands over a one-kilometre stretch of Montreal’s central artery, Sainte-Catherine Street, closed to the automobile traffic all summer. The FIMA offers festival goers a unique opportunity to meet artists from various backgrounds, professionals and emerging artists, and to purchase artworks directly from the artists (without going through a gallery or an agent). In 2010, close to 300 artists from Quebec, Canada, the United States, Romania, Turkey, France, Rwanda, Mexico, Greece, Israel and Martinique. The exhibitors and performers will take the street during 11 days, from July 1st to the 11th. Over 75 000 people walk on the BoulevArt on a daily basis.

Hi Everyone, Well the more I looked at my painting this afternoon, I felt the sky was not dark enough. So I added a few darker tones of ultramarine blue and some pathlo blue. I am much happier with the results now. Both pics really look very nice, but in real life it was a tad too light. I find it more now like my previous Moonlit Venice painting.

Moonlit Campo San Barnabas - WIP

Hi Everyone, Firstly TGIF. Its a beautiful sunny day here in Ottawa. I have been working steadily on my new Venice painting and I am progressing well. I have about a good 13 hours of work left and it will be completed. Here is what I have done so far.

Rough Sketch

Drawing on Canvas (sorry a little messy) as I had to resize the bell tower and I changed the position of the moon Blocking in most of the colour.

All the colour is blocked in now and I did a bit detail work. Next I will outline and do all the modeling work, lights and darks, etc. My favourite part of the painting. About 8 hours of work left

Added a some contrasts, shadows a few more lights and I outlined the entire painting with a number 2 brush in Paynes grey.

I actually revised the painting later this afternoon and added more darks to the sky - some ultramarine blue and some pathlo blue. Both images look nice but in real life the first version was too light...Voila the Finished Painting

Montreal School Project & Visit

A few months ago I was approached by Grade 4 art teacher from a Maimonide School in Montreal, Quebec for permission to use my funky floral paintings in her class art project. The children were to use my floral paintings for their inspiration and paint their own projects using coloured pastels, pencil crayons etc.

On May 18th 2010, I was in Montreal and visited the school and the children. I brought in some of my original paintings with me and gave them a little presentation about paintings, colour, etc. I had a lovely meeting with them and they were all excited to meet a real artist. Later the teacher showed me their works and I was very proud to see their creations. I love to interact with children and see how enthusiastic they are about art.

New Venice Painting Sketch

Hi Everyone, well I am back working full force in my studio after my recent show. I was busy preparing for the exhibit that I have done any painting and I need to do quite a few new paintings for the next show big FIMA show in Montreal. I am going to be working on a few Italian scenes.

So here is another rough sketch of my next painting idea. Again, I will be doing a little scene from beautiful Venice. I love Venice....does it not show? lol. This scene is from Campo San Barnaba with a view of the Campanile di San Barnaba. I will make the bell tower higher then what is appearing on the sketch. I will be doing this one on a 40 x 50 cm canvas.

Great Art Show and Festival

Hi Everyone, It was a great weekend here in Ottawa. The Orleans festival and art show at the Senkman Arts Centre was a great success. There were lots of people and I had a wonderful time I sold a couple of paintings and many art cards. I met lots of interesting new people and enjoyed the wonderful festival and day despite the rain.

New Exhibition - Shenkman Arts Centre, Ottawa

Hi Everyone, I am very pleased to announce that I will be exhibiting some of my paintings at the Shenkman Art Centre during the The Orléans Festival.

The festival is a new event dedicated to performing and visual arts, chefs and artisans will be held on June 6, 2010 at the Shenkman Arts Centre as part of Doors Open Ottawa. The FESTIVAL will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission and all activities will be FREE - including a pancake breakfast, all shows, workshops and the Taste of Orleans event organized by the Heart of Orléans Business Improvement Area.

Tuscany Delights Promotion

Hello Everyone, A few weeks ago I mentioned that I entered in an agreement with an Italian Restaurant in Montreal "St. Jean Pizzeria" to have my Tuscany Delights painting image on their pizza delivery cars! Well Here is a pic of the Car. The car was unveiled on May 14th at the Golf Course in St. Jean. I think it turned out Brilliantly! I love the way they cropped the image and the colours are wonderful match to the original.

One of the conditions was to have my name displayed next to my image and I am very happy to see how they incorporated my name/website in the design. It's some great advertising for me and my work! I would love to have one for myself to zoom zoom around in!

The festival runs from the 1st - 11th of July in Montreal. I will be exhibiting my work in the second segment from 8th-11th of July downton Ste. Catherine Street. I also just finished my latest painting - a triptych of pink water lillies. I am quite pleased with the paintings. Each canvas is 20 x 20 cm. Paintings will be framed in a silver box floating frame and will be part of my show.
