WIP Dubrovnik Colour blocking continues

Hi Everyone, We are in a huge deep freeze in Ottawa these past days. Yesterday it was -29 with a windshield bringing it to -40.  Today its -26 and feels like -35.  A bit warmer..lol.  Seriously, I have not gone outside.  And I am fighting a cold these past two days and not progressing as much as I would like on my painting.  Well, I managed to do some more work today: another light wash of yellow orchre on the buildings and added some lights to the green foliage and hills. Also blocked in some colour for the sailboats.

The later this afternoon, I added the windows and some other fine outlining to the buildings. Tomorrow I will finish the buildings, then I will on the boats and hopefully finish the water.
Stay tuned...

Next Step, I will block in some colour for the sailboats.

Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a nice weekend.  I did some more work the last couple of days on my Dubrovnik painting:

Blocked in colour for my sky (a mix of primary blue and white)

Added the green foliage and colours for the water (a turquoise mix and white)

Burnt umber outlining of the buildings and some colour blocked in (yellow orche mix and some white and naples yellow)

All the buildings blocked in now

And the infamous red roof tops of Dubrovnik (a mix of red, yellow, & burnt sienna) Next up are the boats and some grey/earth tones for the rocks. Then I will begin the modeling and outlinging stage

Majestic Dubrovnik - wip continues

Hi Everyone, Today I finished my drawing on canvas...the difficult part is over. Took me roughly 3 hours to complete the drawing on the 91 x 61 big canvas. Now the fun part begins...blocking in the colours. Will start that tomorrow.

Happy New Year 2013

Hi Everyone, Firstly, I want to wish you all a Very Happy New Year and all the best for 2013.

Well it has been some time since I have posted.  I have been busy with some personal things the past two months which I will announce at a later time.   I also had a busy Christmas Holiday and now after some time I am back in my studio and here is my first painting idea and WIP for 2013.

I am going to paint the beautiful seaside town of Dubrovnik, Crotia. The painting will be done on a 61 x 91 gallery canvas.

Here is my Rough Sketch in Black and White

Added some Colour.  I decided to add some sailboats to the painting for movement and colour.  Now I will draw the composition on my canvas.  The most tideous and difficult party in my opinion.
