Happy Holidays

Hi everyone, sorry it has been some time since I have done some blogging on my Studio Blog. I just came back from a busy trip to Canada for the closing of our new home. Hurray, I will finally be moving back to Canada end of January 2008 to Ottawa, Ontario! My husband has some work to finish at his office and will join me sometime end of February. We are both very happy to be returning back to our beautiful country after 13 years of living abroad.

I had a great trip to Canada despite running around and handling affairs. It was great to see my family and friends as I won't be seeing them this Christmas season. There was also a big snow storm while I was there, and I was just amazed to see how much snow fell. And after I left another storm hit. It's been a long time since I have seen snow like this. I guess we will have to get used to all the white stuff back in Canada. If it's not too cold, I actually like Canadian winters with all the snow and beautiful sunshine.

So I am back home now in dreary, grey Copenhagen. My husband said he did not see the sun since I left, and it was quite depressing. I have to agree with him, I have never seen the days so dark since I have lived here. But the city is very Christmassy and the decorations in the city and town where I live are beautiful.

So I have been very busy the past days and have not had a chance to do any painting. So in between, my busy schedule of Christmas, New Years and organizing the big move, I have a commission piece to do for some friends before I leave for Canada. I will do a painting of their home, stay tuned for my wip of this new work.

I also want to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and Wonderful New Year!

Retro Martini

Hi everyone, well I just finished my 1st canvas for my Bar series. It was sure difficult to paint those circle swirls free hand. Anyways, after lots of stress and swearing, I am very happy with this painting and how it turned out. I can't wait to show Andreas tonight.

Wishing you all a great day. Next I will work on the beer painting.

Wine Labels - Wonderful Promotion

Hi everyone thought I would share this with you. My good mate Sue, who now lives in beautiful Vancouver, has just bottled some of her own wine and used my paintings for her wine labels. They are just beautiful and it's wonderful advertising for me and my paintings.

So I thought I would share these pics with you of the very stylish wine labels she created. I can’t wait to visit her in Vancouver and try some of her wonderful wine.

Some close-ups of her beautiful labels:

Thanks a bunch Sue! It’s an honour to see my painting motifs on your beautiful labels! These would make excellent posters, you have a real graphic eye!

Andreas and I really miss you and Tom and our wonderful dinners and parties! It’s not the same since you both left…boohoo!

Martini Time - 1st Canvas wip

Hi Everyone, I began some work on my 1st canvas - Martini Time on this very windy, rainy day. I blocked in my background colour with a nice acqua green. Then I did my drawing on the canvas. I am quite content with the layout and design.

Now I have blocked in colour - I am painting with a big brush and feeling very loose. I have no reference pics and I am just going with the flow and having fun! Colours used: tit white, pathlo blue, paynes grey, pahtlo green, olive green, lemon yellow.

I am also not sure about the stars....Stayed Tuned......This painting is making we want to have a martini! LOL. Tonight when Andreas gets home from his biz trip - I will whip us up some - and they will be shaken not stirred!

Okay I added another wash of colour (greys, white blue) for the shaker and on the glasses and did an out line--still more work to be done on the glasses -the shaker is almost done. I am seeing it really coming together. I am having so much fun painting this one --could it be that I love drinking! LOL. So, I removed the stars and added another coat on the acqua green background. I will most likelt put the stars back in at the end after I see my retro circle design, and I am thinking hot pink to match the olive sticks (which are not done yet). I will also most likely add the red pimento bits in the olives. That will add some nice splash of red.

Okay, I am calling it a day as it is dark here now and I have troubles working under fake light. But I really feel like painting more, but I am best to work under fresh eyes and daylight tomorrow. I dont want to screw up what I just accomplished today.

Tomorrow I will begin the modelling work everywhere and painting in my retro circles. Have a great Friday night everyone. I am off to make myself a good martini and wait for my hubby who has been away all week. xoxoxo

New Painting Idea–Bar/Happy Hour Theme

Hi everyone, well I have been busy scheming ideas for a new painting again for our new home. This time it will be a painting for our bar in the basement. It will be a quad-triptych of 4 canvases (each 40 x 40 cm) in a silver wood box floating frame.

Each canvas will have some alcohol beverage theme: martinis (cocktails), wine and champagne, Cognac and eau de vie, and of course beer-with a Bavarian colour theme).

The canvas: 40 x 40 cm

Here is a very, and I am very rough sketch of my ideas on paper with a slight colour scheme. There are lots of warm reddish/orange/yellow brick and wood tones in our new home and I want to have that reflected in the painting along with some blues/greens that compliment orange tones very well.

A close up of one of the ideas for one of the canvases : Martini cocktails

Here you can see a pic from the prospectus of the bar in the new home. I will hang these painting on the front wall (in front of the bar stools. (The fridge is not mine – there will be no fridge here-there will be one under the bar, which you do not see.)

So that’s what I have been up to these past days. I will soon begin my designs on the canvases. Stay tuned.

Wishing you all a lovely week.

Wrapping up my latest painting

Hi Everyone, hope you all had lots of trick or treaters last night. Unfortunately, I did not have one! I was a little disappointed. Oh well, when we move back to Canada I am pretty sure we will get many.

I managed to do lots of work today on my autumn bloom painting and I am just about done. Tomorrow I will do some modeling work on the back ground and it will be finished!
Sorry about the pic, it is dark here right now and I could not get a decent picture, as I had to use the flash, so we are not seeing some nice contrasts in the flowers.

Wishing you all a great evening.
Cheers

New floral idea on a long canvas

Hi everyone, I finally found some time to get some work done in my studio on my new painting project. This painting will be for our new home and painted on a long canvas 35 x 120 cm.

I am thinking lots of nice earthy fall colours (red, beige, browns) with some bright light green stems and pretty white ornithogalum ( chincherinchee) flowers

A cropped pic of the flowers.
My proposed colour scheme and my rough sketch with the fall colours I will be using.

Back from Canada!

Hi Everyone, We are finally back home in Copenhagen after a beautiful, busy trip to Canada. I am slowly getting back to my daily routine but unfortunately caught a bad cold coming over. We had a wonderful vacation and the weather was just gorgeous--a real Indian summer with all the trees changing colour. The big event of our trip was my sister’s wedding, which was just amazing and she looked so beautiful and radiant. My new brother-in-law Martin was also dashing! I am so happy for them both!

A few pictures from the wedding
My Sister and I in the bridal suite getting ready. I did her makeup which turned out just beautifully.
My handsome brother Peter before the ceremony in the ChapelI was my sister's maid of honour Mr. and Mrs. Pavelic
Beautiful Mary and Martin

Lisa & Andreas - the Master of Ceremonies
I also celebrated my big 40th birthday with my close friends and family, and had my first Thanksgiving back in Canada in 12 years with yummy turkey and all the trimmings.
A few pics from my Birthday Party

Wine - always a good gift for Lisa

I hope you all have been doing well and creating lots of wonderful art work. I managed to do a few sketches over the weekend which I think I will pursue as some paintings. I am off to visit all your blogs! In the meantime, I wish you all a great week!

"The Little Trattoria" Finished

Hi Everyone, Well I just finished my little trattoria Italian restaurant painting. I am quite pleased with it.

My hubby has not seen or heard about this painting. I have kept it very quiet. I am going to give him the painting as an anniversary gift. Tomorrow is our official Church Wedding Anniversary and the one we really celebrate together.
I think he will be really excited. He loves to get paintings and especially the ones with buildings and cats. And he loves little trattorias too, so I think he will be quite happy.

My Birthday Invitation

Hi Everyone, Thought I would share a picture of my birthday invitation I made this morning.

I will be celebrating my birthday this October in Montreal for the first time in 11 years. Although my birthday is on October 5th, I am having the event on October 6th so it will be easier for my out of town guests.

Here is the invitation - Andreas had a good laugh..lol!

The Little Trattoria Sketch

Hi Everyone, well, I just couldn't control myself. I am a paintaholic and I had to do some sketches for a quick painting before I leave for Canada next week.

Here is a little idea I came up with this morning for a little trattoria (restaurant) scene and of course with my little kitties. Maybe I will make the moon full.
