Welcome to my Studio Blog
Take a peek into my studio and See what inspires me to create my paintings and what’s been happening in my studio and on my travels.
I love to travel, see new places and meet new people. I love to create bold colourful paintings, many of them based on my wonderful travels.
Some Sunshine from South Africa for today. My painting "Kings of the Cape" (in an African pottery vase) When I moved to South Africa for a few years, I fell in love with this beautiful country and the Protea flower which happens to be South Africa’s beautiful national flower.Original painting available for sale. Also fine art and canvas prints, greeting cards, etc. Available to purchase Have a great day everyone!
Well, its finally done, after much work, I finished my latest painting: "Colours of Cape Town".
I am very pleased with it, was the vision I had when I did my first sketch many months ago in Joburg. Such a magnificent place the V&A harbour and the view of the spectacular Table Mountain; I had to paint this scene to cherish forever! Thanks for watching my WIP. Prints, cards, etc. will soon be available of my new painting.

Hi Everyone, Finally outlined a wash of Payne's grey on my canvas drawing. Happy that is done! Someone pour me a glass of wine! lolol Going to start with colour blocking next. Have a great day everyone.
Hi everyone, Did some work in my studio today. First I outlined a grid on my sketch first. I wasn't sure I thought about adding in another boat (a sailboat in the forefront along the dock) Added one in roughly in red and for a visual test work. After seeing this example, I don't think this will be a good addition to my painting. It will crowd the front and and take away from my boats/and buildings in back. I will not be adding this other sailboat.
Then I prepared my grid on my Canvas for the layout of the drawing. Now Finished my charcoal drawing on my canvas. The worse is done! lol. I will now outline and fix some areas. Then start to block in colour hopefully today or it will be tomorrow. Have a great day.
Hi Everyone, Added some colour to my Cape Town V&A Waterfront Sketch. Calling it a day. Off for a nice dinner with our friends tonight. Will be back to work - drawing on canvas on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone.
Hi Everyone, More sketching today. Here is what I am going to go with...I think... lol. I might change my mind. Another scene from "Cape Town - V&A Waterfront with view of Table Moutain" I will try and add some colour tomorrow and then hopefully I can start doing the drawing on the canvas which I is the part I hate! lol
Hi Everyone, Feel like I need to start another painting. Been planning my next painting today - think I am going to paint a beautiful scene from Cape Town next. Here is a very rough b&w sketch of one my ideas to come.

"South African Fire Ball"
Hi Everyone, Did more work today on my Red Hot Aloe Pokers today. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to work on it as much as I would like. H oping I can perhaps finish this week. A pic to share of my WIP progress so far. Wishing You a Great day.
Hi Everyone,
Worked on some sketches today for my next floral painting. Going to do another floral of the beautiful red hot aloe pokers growing at our home here in Johannesburg, South Africa. They bloom about this time every year and are so stunning. Coming from Canada I had never seen them, When I first saw them bloom, I knew I had to paint them. They are just gorgeous and one of my fav plants. They are native to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. I just love them.
