Latest Painting "Colours of Cape Town"

Well, its finally done, after much work, I finished my latest painting: "Colours of Cape Town".
I am very pleased with it, was the vision I had when I did my first sketch many months ago in Joburg. Such a magnificent place the V&A harbour and the view of the spectacular Table Mountain; I had to paint this scene to cherish forever! Thanks for watching my WIP.  Prints, cards, etc. will soon be available of my new painting.

WIP 1 - Cape Town Painting

Hi everyone, Did some work in my studio today.   First I outlined a grid on my sketch first. I wasn't sure  I thought about adding in another boat (a sailboat in the forefront along the dock) Added one in roughly in red and for a visual test work.  After seeing this example, I don't think this will be a good addition to my painting.  It will crowd the front and and take away from my boats/and buildings in back. I will not be adding this other sailboat.

Then I prepared my grid on my Canvas for the layout of the drawing. Now Finished my charcoal drawing on my canvas. The worse is done! lol. I will now outline and fix some areas. Then start to block in colour hopefully today or it will be tomorrow. Have a great day.

Another South African Floral Painting Idea, WIP

Hi Everyone,
Worked on some sketches today for my next floral painting. Going to do another floral of the beautiful red hot aloe pokers growing at our home here in Johannesburg, South Africa.   They bloom about this time every year and are so stunning. Coming from Canada I had never seen them, When I first saw them bloom, I knew I had to paint them.  They are just gorgeous and one of my fav plants.   They are native to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. I just love them.
