Happy Holidays

Wishing all my friends a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

It has been a crazy month of December for me. The wood pecker attack is still on going, but I see much less of him since the plastic barrier is on the house. He came back once last week to a portion of the house that was not covered. So, now all the walls are covered. It looks awful but it's keeping me sane! We plan on removing it after the holidays. Hopefully, he has moved on now.

I also quit smoking and it has been very very difficult. However, it's day 20 and I am still smoke free and I managed to survive the bird stress, the hectic holidays, constant snow storms, ice rain, and our leaking window on Christmas eve...... I am just going one day at a time! It's the hardest thing I have ever done.

So my dear friends, see you all back in the New Year! Hopefully I will have some paintings finished and new ideas for 2009.

All my best wishes to you all, and I look forward to seeing your artistic endeavours for 2009!

Stress Update

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the recent comments on my blog about my nasty woodpecker. My friend appeared again early Friday morning and this time at the back of the house. I think he moved to the back now because of all the loud Xmas decorations and Santas all over the house. Anyways I went outside and was right next to him and I think I scared the living day lights out of him. I was even shaking in my boots. So on Friday my husband went to a Hunting shop and got some coyote urine. We sprayed it all over the house on late Friday and we waited for him all weekend. But he did not show. Perhaps this is working, but I cant be sure. I am still afraid to leave the house in case he comes and pays me a visit again. Leaving the house unattended is not worth the damage this bugger can do.

So I had the pest control here the other day and we have decided to wrap the entire house with a plastic barrier. Gosh man, I cant believe it has come to this. I wonder what the neighbours will think....LOL. Well, if the plastic works and he moves on, it will be worth the money and embarrasment. Wish me luck. I still have not had a chance to work on any paintings.

An Idea I am playing with...

Hi everyone, I need to do a painting for our entrance. My entrace colours are a reddish brown on one wall, and the other where the painting will hang is a sort of a dark beige/light brown colour. If you have crayola crayons - it would be the colour tumbleweed....lol ( I like to use crayons for my fast sketches)

The Entrance colours

So here is by basic idea I have been thinking about the past couple of days. I just did some very fast sketches today and here is the one that I sort of like.....perhaps it might turn into a painting. And you would think that I would be sick of leaves...lol. I think they have consumed me. Have a great week everyone.

This morning I did another sketch - as the canvas in question is 30 x 90 and narrow one, so perhaps this composition might be better

A new painting Idea

Now that I finished my big commission painting, I finally had a chance to sit down and do some fast sketches for my next painting. It will be painted on a long canvas 35 x 120 cm - portrait for over our bed's headboard. I dont' have any paintings for our bedroom and it needs a little colour. This painting will be white frangipanis with some teal greenish blue and brown background to match the colours in our room

VIPing in Ottawa

The other night my husband and I attended the Ottawa Senator's hockey game at the Scotia Place and we met our Prime Minister, Mr. Stephen Harper at the game. He was sitting very close to us. He was very nice and we took a picture with him, he even held my beer for the pic..LOL. He seems so much taller then us as he was standing on the step above. It was a great game btw and the Senator's won.

Fresh Off the Easel

Hi Everyone,
Sorry it has been long overdue since I post something on my studio blog. This summer has been just so busy for us. We have had many guests and lots of work to do around our home. Then came Fall and the yard work was heavy. I have never done so much raking. Anyways, we finally hired some guys to do the raking in the back. I never thought this house of mine would be so much work. However, I do love our home and property, so as my dad said "When you love your Trees your love your Leaves"...LOL

Anyways, I have finally had a chance to finish my commission painting - 120 x 100 cm. This painting is based on a combination of my Beach Colours series and my Italian Summer's End painting. The painting is entitled "Mary's Summer Delight" I will be varnishing shortly and delivering to my customer. She saw a pic of the painting and is very pleased.

Wishing you all wonderful week. We are having some amazing Spring like weather here in Ottawa.

New Studio Pics

Hi Everyone, Thought I would post some pics of my new studio - finally finished. I really love my new studio but miss my beautiful window and view of the Oresund in Copenhagen. Oh well, I can always paint out on my deck in the summer months. Now I will be now working on my new 100 x 120 cm painting. It will be a combination of my "An Itlian Summer's End and Beach Colours painting". My sister has comissioned me to do this painting for her new home. She wants a beach theme in her living room.

A few pics of some of my funky florals all hanging together. I have approached a couple of galleries here in Ottawa to have them displayed so they will soon be leaving. It is always sad to see your paintings leave.

A few pics of our backyard, finally getting it finished. My husband was busy sanding the deck all weekend and I was painting some teak oil on the garden furniture. We just need some warmer weather now so I can take a dip in the pool.

Finally a Move In Update

Hi Everyone, Well it has been almost 2 months since our container arrived from Denmark with all our belongings and we have been so busy these past months unpacking and organizing our belongings and shoveling all that snow. It has been a very hard, long winter here in Ottawa.

We are finally seeing the light and are enjoying our new home. The weather has also been really beautiful with summer temperatures--we went right from winter to summer...lol. I am so happy to see the green grass and the blooming flowers. The past 2 weeks I have been busy working on our property: raking the grass, blowing old leaves and fixing up the rock gardens.

Now that the yard work is done, I am about to finish the work in my art studio. I can’t wait to get it up and running and begin painting again. I have really been having creativity withdrawal. I have a few ideas for some paintings and look forward to starting them soon. I attach a few pics here of our new home (you can see all the snow). I will have to take some outside soon. I will also be posting a few pics of my studio soon and my latest works in progress.

Wishing you all a wonderful week! It’s good to get back to my blog and also stop by all my friends’ blogs which I try to visit every other day! I also to want to Thank You All so much for all your lovely wishes on our move back to Canada.

The movers are coming in a few days and its time to say good bye to Copenhagen. My husband and I will be moving back to our native Canada after living abroad for over 13 years. I am over the moon and really looking forward to moving back to my beautiful Canada and being close to my friends and family again.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to update my blog until I move back home in early February. I am really looking forward to settling in our new home and organizing my new studio, and resume my painting.

As of January 30th, please send all future emails, or inquiries about my art work to: lisalorenzpaintings@hotmail.com.

The Little Festive House - Revised

Hi Everyone, my friends asked me if I could do some revisions to their Little House painting. I really did not want to do these changes but they are the customer. They asked if I could add some more yellow and rose to the house and put add some yellow light in their kitchen window, and a bit more white reflections to the glass windows . So here are the changes:

(I like them both, but I prefer my original painting). I would really appreciate any of your comments about the revisions.

Kamma - Another Commission Painting

Hi Everyone, I just finished another commission painting for my friend Sandra in Copenhagen. Its a painting of her lovely horse Kamma. This was a real challenge for me as I have never painted a horse before. I advised Sandra that I was not an animal painter and she still wanted something. So after a days work, much to my surprise I am quite pleased with sweet Kamma.

The painting is small and measures 8.5 x 11 inches - done in Acrylics. I am going to Sandra's for dinner tonight and I am quite excited to see her reaction.
