Vernissage was a big success

Hi Everyone, TGIF! Well another busy week has gone by. We had a beautiful sunny day for the Vernissage weekend at Gallery de la Rive and over 150 visitors came by the gallery. It was a big success and a beautiful afternoon of art, music, sweets and wine & Cheese.
I sold lots of my colourful cards and I sold my "Autumn Glow" painting so that was great. I actually sold it a few days before the big day. I am now working on a few new ones for the next Exhibit which will begin end of February 2010. Wishing you all a great weekend.

Provence - WIP Moving Along Part 2

Hi Everyone, Happy Saturday to you all! I am moving along quite nicely with my Provence landscape painting. I am now in the second stages which I love to paint: Doing all the modelling of the elements, adding the lights and darks and making the painting come alive on the canvas. I still have about a good 10 hours left to do until its finished. I have already worked on this painting for about 15 hours. Today its pouring raining here, so its a good cozy day to do some painting. I would really love if I could finish by the end of the weekend ,as early next week I must go to Montreal for a few days and wont be able to get back into my studio until Thursday.

1st Step: My drawing on canvas - a little messy but it gives me my base Blocking in some colour now
Blocking in some colour

More colour added All my colours schemes are blocked in now and my sky is complete. I like to always finish the skies in my painting first. I also completed all my outlining -this part always take a little long to complete.

The modelling work has begun and I just about finished my farmhouse (need a bit more work on the windows and doors). Then I will begin work on the foliage and moutains. I will keep the lavendar bushes for last, as this I believe somehow this will be the most challenging part of the painting for me. Stay tuned for more updates....

Finished! Approximately 28 hours of painting time.

Orange Passion 40 x 40 cm SOLD

Then I started a new painting yesterday- a landscape scene of beautiful Provence, France. I have decided to do a WIP of this one:

Here is my drawing on canvas - a little messy but it gives me my base
Blocking in some colour now

Almost all the colour is blocked in now. Just need to add some light greens and the provence blue for the windows and doors. Then my favourite part of the painting begins, where it starts to come alive when I add definition, lights, darks, etc...Stay tuned

Tuscan Poppies II

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all doing well. I have been busy around the house raking leaves and winterizing our garden and patio. I also celebrated my birthday on October 5th! I turned..42, yowza feels like just yesterday I was 24. Where does the time go?

Managed to work in the studio this week and I finished a smaller version of my original Poppies - Under the Tuscan Sun painting. This one is 25 x 50 cm (half the size of the original one). It will be exhibited at the Gallery de La Rive in November. A good time for Rememberance/Veteran's Day.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend and Happy Thanksgiving. We celebrate our Thanksgiving early in Canada.

Wonderful Weekend

Hi Everyone, Just got back from a wonderful weekend in Montreal celebrating my wonderful Father's 65th Birthday. The big event took place at my sister's beautiful home. I also bought down the painting for my little God Daughter Margaux. It was so exciting to see her expression as I showed her the painting. She was starring at it in such excitement. She loves all colourful things like her Auntie Lisa. Wishing you all a lovely week! I am finally getting back in my studio to work on some paintings.

My wonderful Father

And Family. It was such a beautiful supper
Was priceless to see her looking at the painting

New Fun Painting - Ballerina Girls

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all doing well. Things have been going well and I have been busy these past days preparing for the summer exhibition this weekend.

Also I just finished a painting I did for my little niece Margaux who is turning 3 months old this Saturday. I cant believe how fast time is flying by! It’s quite cute and I thought I would share the pic with you all.

Margaux and Friends, 40 x 50 cm, Acrylics
Also here is a more generic one I did. Basically the same painting with a hand painted "Friends" template on top of the banner - to be sold as prints, cards, etc. I also have one where the orange banner is left blank, so I can add all sorts of things to the banner: Happy Birthday, Girl Power, personal names, etc.... the possibilities are endless...lol. It was really fun painting this one. Andreas wants to do a story book now based on these little characters…LOL.

And here's my little Boo

Have a great weekend everyone! and happy painting!

Colours of Tuscany

Hi Everyone, I just finished my Colours of Tuscany painting. Lots of beautiful golds, oranges and greens in this one, with our course the beautiful sunflowers of Italy. Tuscany is one of my cherished places and I love all the colours and beauty it offers. I enjoyed painting this one. This painting is 60 x 80 cm in acrylics and I am quite pleased with it. It will be part of the Fall exhibition in November at the gallery. It looks like I already may have a buyer .....so that is quite exciting. Wishing you all a lovely upcoming weekend. ACDC is coming to Montreal and we will be going to see them. My husband is a big fan and I acutally like them too!

New Sign at Galerie de La Rive

Hi Everyone, The unveiling of the new signboard at the Galerie de La Rive too place earlier this week. It was a lovley event. Partners of the Gallery, Desjardins Caisse Populaire Trillium as well as representatives from RONA J. Lalonde & Sons of Hammond, Ont. were present at the event. Thanks to their financial support, the Galerie de la Rive was able to fund and erect the new Sign. Also present was the mayor of Clarence-Rockland, Richard Lalonde, who assured the city’s continued support of the Galerie de la Rive and its artists. This new Signboard is a tangible representation of the presence of art and artists in the community.

The New Sign
On another note, look who is 10 weeks old today. My little niece. I have nicked named her Maggie Boo. She is just too adorable.
Her first smile captured on camera - I could eat her up! lol
