Finally some Updates to My Studio Blog

Hi Everyone,

Well I realize its been some time since I updated my studio blog.  It was a very busy time this past summer moving into our new home in South Africa.  The big container from Canada arrived in early July and I think spent over 2 months unpacking and settling in.  Was a really big move and I think one of the hardest moves for me.  Must  be the age...lol.  My husband was travelling quite a bit and I was pretty much alone to do it all.  Anyways, the house is done and I finally got my studio furniture and its done.  Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to really do any painting.

In September, I was travelling with my husband to Durban and we stayed in Zimbali.  We had a wonderful vacation.  I just loved the drive from Johannesbug to Durban.

In October I was back in Canada visiting family for about 1.5 months and sadly my beautiful Aunt Lorraine passed away.  Was a very hard time for all of us. She will always be in my heart.   On a happier note, I really enjoyed spending time with my little God Daughters Morgan and Margaux who are really growing up so fast!  They are just so wonderful.

December was a busy month and then there was Christmas and New Years.  Was so nice to have our first Christmas in South Africa with no snow.  I have to say I am not missing those long hard Canadian Winters one bit.   It is summer here in South Africa and the weather is amazing.

In early January we had our good friends from Denmark come for a visit. They really enjoyed their time here in South Africa and also went on a safari which they loved.

After our guests left, we took a long weekend and went to Sun City and stayed at the Very Opulent African Hotel, The Palace of the Lost City. It was just gorgeous. A designers dream.  As Pilanesberg Game Reserve is right nearby, we went on a lovely early evening Safari. It was truly an amazing experience.  I will post some pics of our trip.

So now back home, I am feeling so inspired from that wonderful getaway and pretty ready to start some paintings.  Wishing you all a wonderful week.

I have went back and added pics and posts to my blog for the past few months.

Special 45th Birthday

Hi Friends, I had a wondeful birthday this year. My birthday was on a Friday and our long Thanskgiving weekend.  I had a nice week in Montreal and then a wonderful dinner out with my husband at the new StoneRiver Retaurant here in Cumberland.  Beautiful old Mansion along the water that has been transformed into a restaurant.  The owner is of German descent and her fiancee is wonderful Chef.  For the whole month of October they are celebrating Octoberfest and they have wonderful menu and live music everyweekend by the wonderful Diamonds.

Here are few pics from my birthday week and Thanksgiving:

Monterosso Painting - WIP 5

Hi everyone,  Sorry, I have been behind with my Monterosso painting. I have been busy some other marketing projects - I will fill you in on later.

I finally had some time to work on it my painting. Progressed well today. I am seeing it come together at this stage. I added more colours to the foliage and moutains, added more colours and depth to the buildings and did some modeling work. Also adjusted the sand colour. I need to do more work on my umbrellas, water and the buidlings overall. I have a good 15-18 hours left. I am hoping to wrap things up this week. Stay tuned! Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead! Cheers

New Painting Sketch Idea "Tea Party"

Hello Everyone, Well its been some time since my last post.  Sorry for the delay, but I was away and then Christmas was here and well, you all know how that is...lol.  Firstly, I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and the very best for 2012.   I finally was back in my studio working on a new painting idea for my little niece Morgan who was born two months ago.  I painted a painting for my little Niece Margaux last year so now its time to paint one for Morgan.  This painting is the same thing theme with the little white kitty and other furry friends, but insteas of a little ballet part it's a tea party.

Here is my rough sketch the painting I will be starting.  I will paint on gallery wrapped 40 x 50 cm canvas.  I am looking forward to working on this one.  It's a also a nice break in between my intense Cinque Terre paintings.

We will be flying to Switzerland and visiting some family then we will drive to France (Cote D'Azur) spend a few days there and then its off to Itlay - The Liguria Coast. We will be staying and visiting the beautiful Cinque Terre. I can't wait to see the sites and colours, taste the food and wine and be totally inspired. My favourite place in the world.

I thought I would share with you these lovely little pictures of my little Boo in my studio sitting at my easel - pretending to paint. She is not 2 yet, but soon she will come visit her auntie Lisa and paint for real. Have a great weekend Everyone!
