Hi Everyone, worked late yesterday and finished my cat tails and wild flowers painting. I am quite pleased with how this one turned out. I wasn't sure about the composition and idea. Prints, cards, etc. are now on sale at my various art sites. Please see my webpage where to purchase. Wishing you all a great day and upcoming weekend.

What's on my easel now

Hi Everyone, hope you are all enjoying the really nice spring weather we have been having.
Last weekend I was in Montreal for my brother Peter's 40th birthday and we had a great time.

Back in the studio this week and I have been working on my cat tails painting - 40 x 40 cm canvas. Here is where I am now. All the colour blocked in. Now on to the part I enjoy best...making the painting come alive. Hoping to finish today.

I also framed my Orange Passion Roses Painting:

Brilliant Art Works by Students in England

Back in early February, I was approached by Art Teacher, Brigitte Green, from the Ashford Friars Prep School in Ashford, Kent, England. She inquired about using my colourful landscape images for her art project. I was very honoured that she considered my work and gave her the permission.

Well, much to my delight I received an email from the art teacher yesterday and she sent along a few pics of the students' works. The children are in year 3 (7 to 8 years old). Their teacher, Brigitte Green, printed some of my landscape paintings and glued them onto A3 paper and she asked them to 'finish the picture'. She informed me that they worked in oil pastels because of the bold and bright colours I use in my paintings.

I was so impressed and pleased with their work I thought I would share the images with you on my painting website and studio blog. I think their work is absolutely brilliant and they are ALL very talented.

WIP - Roses Continued

Hi Everyone, another rainy/wet snow day here in Ottawa. It's okay, it gave me a chance to work in my studio all day. I continued working on my wip of my roses today and progressed really well.

Bocked in some orange definition on the roses, and blocked in a bit of colour for the glass bowl.

Added a another coat of orange mix and some yellow to the roses along with some colour variations on my leaves, and more colour reflections in the glass bowl
Finished the leaves, the roses and the baby breath. Then continued with my defining line work using my smallest brushes. This part is the longest. I still need to do the back ground and do a bit more modeling work here and there and on the glass vase. Stay tuned..

And Voila...Fini!

Pink Ladies - Framed

Hi everyone, Busy day today, I also varnished (few days ago) and Framed my Pink Ladies (Calla lilies) painting in a nice silver weathered wooden floaty frame. I find it always makes a drastic impact when you frame a painting. It just looks complete and clean!

WIP - funky rose painting

Hi Everyone, I haven't done a WIP in some time, so I thought I would share one with you all today. I am presently working on two paintings right now, but I will post the wip of my funky roses in a glass little bowl. The painting will be the same size canvas as my Calla Lilies: 40 x 40 cm and done in acrylics.

Step 1 - drawing on canvas in water colour pencils, then I outlined.

Blocking in some peachy colour for the roses and green for the petalsAdded the background colour now - an acqua glue with hints of green.

Another coat of green on the leaves, then I started defining the glass bowl and added some white to the baby's breath. Calling it a day. Tomorrow I will begin the modeling work; my favourite part. Stay tuned...

The Acutal Paper Clipping

Received the East Ottawa newspaper on Friday. It was really exciting for me to see the article in the actual paper. I have a busy week ahead and then we have Easter (my favourite holiday),

I just hope that we dont get that lousy snow they are mentionning in the forecast for Wednesday. Gosh it just all melted away! Weather is cold and damp again and snow flakes are already falling....! I just cant wait for the real spring and not all these random teasing days we have been getting.
