Last Night's Work:
Well I am almost done. Worked alittle late last night, modeling the flower leaves with some more contrasts and some work on the pot and background. Added some red to a few of the leaves.
This morning I am painting my ornaments and outlining my flower leafs. I should be calling this baby finished shortly. Sorry the night pic and flash.
Yesterday's WORK
Well I am finished with the leaves, and I am happy with the different shades and contrasts I used. Colours used: Sap Green, Yellow, lemon yellow, Med. light green hue, and some white too.

Painting Revisions
Ater I finished my Pink Gerber painting for my Funky Floral Series, I noticed a couple things that were not sitting right. The ellipse on my vase was off and I felt the painting need a little more green highlighs in the background.
I revised my painting today:

Just in Time for Christmas?
I finished my drawing on the canvas and it is a bit messy. Sigh...My drawings on canvas are pretty much messy all the time...lol.
Now it is time to do a light wash outline on my drawing and then block in colour! Well, I finally decided on a colour for my background. I am going for a minty cool green to accentuate the reds. Then I blocked in the colour for the background, added a dark red coat for the pot, outlined the flowers and leaves and blocked in some colour there. I also decided to leave some breathing room between one of my Christmas balls and the pot. It looked a little stage there kissing the edge of the pot.
Unfortunatley, I did not get to work too much on my painting today. I was only able to block in a warmer red coat on the flowers and a coat of gold and white/silver on the balls. I will next outline everything to see the different shapes before I add more colour and start the modeling work. I have a busy weekend ahead so I hope I can squeeze in some painting time.
Sorry about the pic and flash. It is getting dark here now in Copenhagen at 3:30 pm. - Winter is here!

Painting Idea from my trip to Venice
I spent most of my day looking at my pics from our recent Venice trip and doing some sketches for my next painting of Venice. So many pictures I took have a very complicated, canal view perspective and I was not in the mood to start another difficult painting, so I ended up using one of my pictures from my trip to Venice with a frontal view and easy perspective reflecting the many beautiful and interesting buildings in Venice. So After many, many sketches I came up with this rough idea done in water colour pencils.
This painting will be part of my Travel series and painted in my colourful, whimsical, illustrative style. I don't yet have a name for the painting, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.
I began drawing the sketch onto my 50 x 60 cn canvas today and then started blocking in some colour for the 1st wash. I will be basically working with 3 colours for the facades: Salomn, yellow orchre, burt sienna with lots of warm and contrasting highlights on all the buidlings. I decided that the step banister from my sketch looked a little wonky so I changed it to a frontal view to fit in better with the overall composition.
The longest part is pretty much done now: blocked in most of all the colours except for the window panes and gondola. Next stage will be to complete those items and then do some modeling work and contrasts.

Welcome to My Studio Blog
Well for over a year now I have been keeping a personal blog: "Lisa’s Danish Happy Hour" about my daily life in Copenhagen, recipes, and our travel adventures; and I have really enjoyed keeping such a journal. It has been nice to look back upon and share such moments with my close friends and family.
I recently noticed that there are so many artists keeping painting blogs now about their ideas, sketches, daily paintings, and other studio news that I thought I would also start a blog this time dealing with my painting activities in my Studio here in Copenhagen. It will be a link/extension from My Work-in-Progress section of my webpage.
So if you enjoy and are curious about my new ideas, painting progress and other art related news, please do drop my Studio Blog to see what I have been up to.
