Last WIP before I am Finished

This Afternoon's Work:
Finished the water and most of all the elements. Need to do the sky, the sun, the boat at darling harbour, the gum trees (bottom right) a pine at Laguna Park – and the animals..LOL. – they will be very small – and you will have to find them…LOL. I will work on the painting on Saturday or Sunday and Finish it!

This Morning's Work:

Well this morning I was not happy with the sailboats on the last wip, I felt they were too big, so I wiped them all out with a water coat and redid them all. I am very happy with the size of them now....so is my little critiquer Mr. Andreas...LOL. It really helps to discuss my painting with him when he gets home from work.

So here is where I am now. I would have love to finish today but I have to go make a stupid lasagna for our dinner party tonight...
I will try to work another hour and post another update.

Have a great weekend!

Almost Done - Really Taking Shape

This Evening's Work:

Calling it a day! And it was a great one! I finished the Light House, Opera House (which I really love) and most of Luna park, added a coat of yellow and gold on centre point. Tomorrow I will finish the tower, the ferris wheel, work on the sky, sun water, bridge and sailboats...Almost Finished. I can't wait!

When the Painting comes Alive

I was very eager to see it come together now, so I started my "scrubbings" stage adding detail and lights and darks a bit all over. Oh this is the stage of painting I so love!

You can really see the painting come alive on the canvas before your eyes. Water, sky and boats will be done last. Stay tuned for more updates! Fun, Fun, till your daddy take your t-bird away..LOL! I am very happy with my progress of this painting! Can't wait to see it finished!

This Afternoon's work:
Having a Lunch Break: Did some more fine tuning at the rocks, the merchant building, bridge pylongs, Lighthouse, back city scrapers: these areas are finished. I also did a bit more here and there at Luna park. Working with a 0 brush my eyes are slowly crossing in my head...LOL
Back to the easel to complete the opera house, centrepoint and the park.
Stay Tuned...and have a great day

Painting and Dreaming of Sydney

Hi Everyone, Well I had a great weekend with my sister Mary and her fiance Martin. We ate some great meals, drank nice wine and played lots of Poker (Texas Hold'em) I just love that game. So now back to the grind, I began work yesterday on my Sensational Sydney painting and I am progressing very well. It also helps that we are having some very wintery weather. There is a snow storm going on today and it is the perfect weather to stay in all cozy and get caught up on your paintings.

My drawing on canvas. It was quicker and easier then I was anticipating. With experience, I tend not to fuss so much about the drawing on the canvas as I tend to repaint over areas and do the details and modeling work towards the end.

Then I did some outlining and was not very happy at all with the top slope of my bridge, so I re-did the bridge more like on my sketch. Andreas agreed and he said it was too bulbous..LOL.

Blocking color and to the water area. I was a little lazy and wiped out some of the sail boats but I will add them back in later. I find it easier like that. I also added the ferry and I did not really like it in the composition - it was too large and distracting from the beautiful Opera house, so there will be only some colorful sailboats. I am almost at the stage of painting that I enjoy: the refining details, lights/darks. At this rate, I am hoping to be finished by the end of the week!

Sensational Sydney - WIP

Hi Everyone, So my next painting is part of my Travel Series and it is all about Sydney, Australia! I have been there twice and I just love this Sensational city! Thus, my title for the painting is "Sensational Sydney". It will be done in Acrylics on 40 x 50 cm, gallery wrapped canvas. This painting is for my wonderful friend Kim Barker. Our second Swap! She painted a wonderful portrait of Andreas to match mine in her Energy Series style! Thanks again mate!

After many many sketches I came up with this....here is my sketch done in ink:

And Then Colored - What a difference color adds to our lives! This was colored using oil pastels (First time working with pastels and boy were so hard to work with, phew I dont know if I will use them again, but the colors sure are striking)

I will begin work on my painting next week as My sister Mary is arriving tomorrow for the long weekend! I can hardly wait to see her and her fiance Martin! Wowee! Have a great upcoming weekend everyone!

Happy Valentines Day

Wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day
Full of Love, Romance, Kisses, and Snuggles

A Wonderful Surprise

A few weeks ago I painted a little “get well painting”, beach colours for my Andreas and my wonderful artist friend Kim from Australia really liked it and wanted to know if she can have a print of it. I decided to paint her one and in exchange she said she would also paint me a painting. So we decided on a painting swap!

Well this morning, what a surprise to get an email from her that she had already completed my portrait in her smashing style for her acrylic “portrait” series. I am no 9, yellow number 2. She choose yellow for me because she said I am the sunniest gal ever! She is so nice and I am so touched and overwhelmed with delight! I just LOVE it!

If you have a chance please do look at Kim’s wonderful wepage http://www.laketrees1.com and her blog: http://laketrees.blogspot.com/ She is an award winning portrait artist who paints in a unique style that I just adore!

I am slow and I am still working on Kim’s little painting. Hopefully I will be finished by the end of the week so I can send her the painting.
