Welcome to my Studio Blog
Take a peek into my studio and See what inspires me to create my paintings and what’s been happening in my studio and on my travels.
I love to travel, see new places and meet new people. I love to create bold colourful paintings, many of them based on my wonderful travels.
HI Everyone, this weekend was the exhibition at the Galerie de la Rive. There was a great turn out and everyone was raving about it. On Saturday it was the artist Demo Day. Many of us were there doing painting demonstrations. There was loal portrait Artist Olaf Krassnitzky present doing portraits. I had a wonderful time working on my Calla Lilly painting.

My cards are now being sold directly from my studio at 5 blank cards with envelopes for $10.00 If anyone is interested in purchasing my art cards please contact me by email: lalorenz@sympatico.ca Sunday was the big Vernisage and it was just wonderful. We had a huge turn out. We had a live jazz band present, along with some wonderful wine and canapes. Again the portrait Artist was also present. The gallery also hosted an Art Contest sponsored by Caisse populaire Trillium, with whom the Gallery has now established a permanent partnership. Every primary school in Clarence-Rockland was invited to participate. My family even drove down from Montreal to share in my big day. I met lots of new interesting people and sold many of my art cards.

Hi Everyone, It has been a very busy week for me so far. I am getting all sorts of things done before the big exhibition this weekend!!! wohoo I cant wait. I was at the Printers yesterday getting some 400 prints made of my work on greeting cards. They will be ready on Friday. I will sell them at the exhibition.
Now I am working on some sketches and ideas for some paintings. I need to bring a painting with me on Saturday for the Artist Demos. I really want to have the drawing on the canvas and some coloured blocked in for my demo. So here are a few sketches I have done. I am not sure what I will go with yet....
I think this one is my fav...the poppies - but the canvas will be a long one. Might be to cumbersome to work on over there.
Some Pink Calla lillies..not sure about the background colours...yet.
I think I will play with more colour combos. I think I will take out the browns at the bottom.
More sketches...Will colour in today.

Thought I would share some of my exciting news with you all. Galerie de la Rive in Rockland, Ont. asked me to be a permanent artist at their gallery. I am quite honoured as there are many artists in Ottawa that are always looking for space to exhibit and they chose moi! I have a wall space and at the moment have 9 of my floral paintings on display. I thought they were a good choice for Spring. These paintings will be on display till mid June, when we rotate for new paintings.
We will also be having a big group exhibition the weekend of March 28th/29th. It looks like it will be a nice exhibition with lots of activities. There will be artists demontrations on the 28th, with lots more exciting activities. We basically hold 4 big group exhibitions a year plus some smaller ones in between. It’s a new gallery so they are still working out these events and details.
What’s nice is that I can remain exhibiting at Galerie de la Rive and also exhibit by work at other galleries. There are a few more that have answered me and will have some space this Fall. So things are moving for me and I am quite excited.
Yesterday, I met the director of the gallery and she is very nice. Then some other artist members came by and they were all very kind. I am very happy to belong to this group and also make some new friends. I have been finding my adjustment back in Ottawa, Canada a little difficult as I don’t know many people here. It’s also so nice to be with other artists and I missed that contact.

Hi Everyone, I was updating my shops yesterday with my new white water lily painting and decided to try designing some slip on running shoes. The shoes are Keds Canvas Slip on Shoes. I think the results are quite beautiful. So summery and surfy like. All I need now is a bathing suit and sarong with this same design. I also have some summer tees and bags with the motif.
I cant wait for summer! LOL

Hi Everyone, I am happy to say that I just finished my water lily painting. I am quite happy with results and love the blues. Much to my surprise, I have had several requests to purchase the painting...but I wanted to keep it...at least for a little bit. I painted this one for our home. Oh well, I guess I can paint another. It is always so nice to receive such wonderful feedback when you finish a painting.
Wishing you all a nice day. I will be busy for the next couple of days organizing the upcoming baby shower for my sister. She is having a baby in about 2 months. The first baby for the family. So exciting!

Hi everyone, Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here in Ottawa it was so lovely. The sun was shining for two days and hubby and I went skiing on Sunday and had a great time. It’s the first time we ski this year and went to place not too far from home in the Gatineau Hills called Mont Ste. Marie.
First time I drive in this area and it was just beautiful. It is very hilly with lots of lakes, and I can imagine how lovely it must be in summer time as well. I was surprised to see that the ski hill was so empty on such a beautiful day. We found out that Sundays are quiet and that Mont Ste. Marie is a littler far from Ottawa and most people go to closer resorts like Edelweiss, Vorlage, etc. In the future I will keep on skiing at Mont Ste. Marie as I do not mind driving the extra 40 minutes to have an empty ski hill. Nothing worse then crowds and line ups for the chair lift and a bunch of skiers on the slopes. If the weather is nice next Sunday, I think we will be going back.
Wishing you all a lovely day. I am off for my walk and then I will try to do some painting.
